Master Sgt. James Johnson, 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron operations flight chief, poses for a portrait May 30, 2025, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The 375th AES conducted a Tactical Aeromedical Evacuation Simulation exercise in May, challenging both new and experienced Airmen with a mass-casualty scenario. The training gave Airmen hands-on experience with patient-carry procedures, aircraft loading and first responder medical care. “We play how we practice,” Johnson said. “I’d much rather go through an exercise and make mistakes, identify blind spots or near misses — those areas where we could potentially be vulnerable — versus when it’s time to go save someone’s life. That’s why we train.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Tyler Prince)
